Set in 1916, during World War I, in the fictional town of Ramsden, Yorkshire, The Choral is a historical comedy drama film. It follows the members of the local choral society which recruits a group of teenage boys and girls to replace all the men who have enlisted to help the war effort. They work towards a performance of Edward Elgar's 'The Dream of Gerontius' under the direction of the demanding Dr Guthrie.
