“A strong, unassuming picture.”: The Guardian

From a childhood in Romania to the world's great concert halls, The Yellow Tie tells the remarkable story of Sergiu Celibidache, one of classical music's most brilliant and uncompromising conductors. Defying his father's expectations to pursue a life in music, Celibidache follows a path shaped by extraordinary ambition, artistic conviction and personal sacrifice. Ben Schnetzer and John Malkovich portray the conductor at different stages of his life, alongside Sean Bean, Miranda Richardson and Kate Phillips. Directed by Celibidache's son, Serge Ioan Celibidachi, this sweeping biographical drama explores the passions, relationships and relentless pursuit of perfection behind an extraordinary musical legacy.

Includes sequences of flashing lights that may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy or other photo sensitivities.

Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint

Christmas is coming, and Aubrey Flint is hardly feeling festive. A reclusive man sentenced to community service, he finds himself reluctantly directing an amateur production of A Christmas Carol at a retirement home. With a cast of spirited residents, theatrical ambitions and a distinctly unconventional director, bringing Dickens' beloved story to the stage promises to be quite an undertaking.

John Bradley leads a wonderful ensemble including Celia Imrie, Richard E. Grant, Adjoa Andoh, Karl Pilkington and Nigel Planer, with Jim Broadbent as Charles Dickens. Directed by Jack Spring, this charming British comedy promises festive mischief, unlikely friendships and a reminder that Christmas can bring out the best in even the most reluctant participants.

But when Chris strikes up an unlikely friendship with two rebellious young women, their supposedly straightforward mission takes an increasingly unpredictable turn. John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell star alongside Steve Buscemi in this offbeat political thriller, where dark humour, Cold War intrigue and the strange beauty of an isolated Pacific island make for an unsettling combination.
